Everybody knows how important dressing up is when you are about to go to your job interview. Any kind of interview would actually require a certain standard of dressing up because you will have to show your prospective employer that you mean business and you are not just wasting their time. When people show up for an interview, they do all sorts of things that might just make or break their strategy of landing the job that may just be offered to them. The discussion you are about to read in this article will focus on people who are getting ready to land a job in the usual corporate setting with the hopes of starting their journey in the corporate ladder. It is a given fact that you have to be concerned with your job interview attire.

The attire can be summed up in three four essential things that will have a certain level of formality:

Tops or shirts

Men have to wear a long sleeved polo if not a suit to an interview. Having a tie will also show you are ready for the job. No wrinkled tees or graphic polo shirts when you are getting inside the New York Stock Exchange, right? There is a strict and clear understanding that being clean and appropriate reflects your readiness for a serious job. Women will have to wear long sleeved polo as well or if not a plain structured blouse. It is not right to wear anything sleeveless unless you plan to put your dress jacket on. The attire for tops will be the first thing the interviewer will remember other than your face. Don’t show too much skin, especially your cleavage as this could be rated as unprofessional by some companies.

Pants or skirts

Dress pants for both men and women are acceptable but never a pair of jeans in a job interview. Women can also wear skirts but not to the point that it looks like a micro-mini. Something above the knee will be fine. Your attire will be your ticket to landing the job you have always wanted so you better be prepared for it a hundred percent.

Face and Hair

For the men, don’t forget to get a haircut the day before the interview. Keep your hair clean and away from your face. If you have long hair, make sure you tidy up with a slick and neat pony tail during the interview. Women, on the other hand, will have to either tie their hair to the back or make it a point that the hair doesn’t tousle while you are being asked of your qualifications. Have a little makeup on so you would look nice and presentable. Don’t overdo your blush and lipstick though as if you are attending a goth party or a carnival. Keep it light and natural-looking.

Shoes and Accessories

The last piece of job interview attire is your shoes. Leather shoes for men are a must while ladies have to be in their closed heeled shoes. Accessories should be kept at a minimum. A pair of earrings will do for the ladies, a watch or a bracelet and elegant necklaces will do. For men, try to minimize your details and stick to just your watch for the meantime. Also, be careful wearing mens loafers to an important interview, as they may over communicate a casual and comfort.
